Dear editor,
There is a small handful of Canadians wearing red poppies at our university here in the southern United States.
Together with Canadians at home we remember those who have given their lives for our country.
We remember the men and women for whom love of neighbour was greater than love of self. We remember those who followed the path of duty though it led to death.
As the day set apart to their memory approaches again, we honour their sacrifice. We thank God for their example of service. And we resolve to emulate their selfless love.
Brendon Johnson,
Courtenay
