Cartoonist misses the point and reach of visit

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge play important role for monarchy

Re: Ingrid Rice editorial cartoon on Royal Visit (Gazette, Sept. 30)

The cost to taxpayers of the Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, according to the news media, was $1 million. I think Rice should show the public in her next cartoon how much money was made on souvenirs, flags, flowers, hotel rooms, restaurants, etc. from Canadians and tourists that came here to see them, and the GST and PST sent to the governments on those items.

The Duke and Duchess are working Royals and do a lot of good.

My last comment is  that it was so nice to see something happy and good on the news for a change.
