Hello everyone! My name is Ivana and I am a volunteer with the Quesnel Canadian Cancer Society. Our unit office is currently going through some changes and with that we need volunteers who are willing to expand beyond their comfort zone to help an amazing cause.
If anyone is able to give up a little time once a week or once a month or even once a year – they would find fulfillment in helping others and during the holidays. What else could mean more?
If you think you have the skills necessary to enhance our team and feel that you can make a difference, drop by 332 Front Street from 11a.m. – 3 p.m. weekdays to pick up a volunteer form or call us at 250-992-6551.
General Cancer Statistics:
In 2012, an estimated 186,400 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in Canada. About 510 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer every day or 21 Canadians every hour.
Some dates to remember:
We welcome you to visit the local Farmers’ Christmas Market at the Arts and Rec Centre Dec. 1, and Dec. 8. Back by popular demand, we are selling high-quality cakes, cookies and truffles to help the Quesnel unit fundraise this year.
The next meeting and annual unit volunteers and members potluck Christmas luncheon is noon on Dec. 12 at the Masonic Hall (located at 520 Front Street); all our unit volunteers are welcome to come. Invitees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for Good Cheer.
Our office will be closed after Dec. 21 and will re-open
Jan. 2, 2013. Our monthly meeting for January is Jan. 9, 2013.
If you have any questions/concerns about anything being mentioned in the column, call us at 250-992-6551 or drop by the office.
On behalf of everyone here at the Canadian Cancer Society Quesnel, we wish you all the best during the Christmas holidays.
