The Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business in Williams Lake and area. We promote the well being of business in Williams Lake & District and foster a work-, stay- and play-at-home atmosphere to all residents.
Welcome to our newest member: Bare’s Paint and Bodyworks.
We invite everyone to attend our AGM and election of officers Oct. 27 at 11:45 a.m. at Signal Point Restaurant. Our guest speaker this month is John Turner, chair of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce.
Turner is responsible for regional and provincial government relations for Spectra Energy’s Western Canada transmission and processing operations, which include four distinct businesses: B.C. Pipeline, B.C. Field Services, Midstream and Natural Gas Liquids.
A graduate of McGill University, John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture and holds a professional designation from the B.C. Institute of Agrologists. He has significant experience in land-use management and community government and stakeholder relations.
Turner was recently appointed to the board of governors for the University of Northern British Columbia and currently is the incoming chair of the B.C. Chamber of Commerce. He is also chair of the United Way of Northern British Columbia and is the founding chair of the Northern Opportunities Initiative.
The Business Development Bank will also make a presentation to the 2011 Business Excellence Award recipients in recognition of their achievement and success last year.
Although we have a slate of candidates for the Board of Directors, we always welcome nominations from the floor.
On Wednesday, Nov. 2 the Chamber will host a councillor candidate forum at the Tourism Discovery Centre for the public from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The mayoralty forum will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m. for Chamber members and guests; RSVP in advance by Oct. 31 to the Chamber.
Do you go the extra mile? What percentage of your customers return? Are you helping your staff?
We all know when customers have a great shopping experience in a business as a result of excellent customer service; they will continue to shop there.
If their shopping experience is less than desirable, they will look for other places to conduct their business. It makes sense that business owners would want to send their staff for customer service training simply to ensure return customers.
The Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce can help. We offer a one-day customer service training course called WorldHost Fundamentals and when completed you are presented with a certificate.
Chamber meetings offer you the opportunity to meet other businesses and talk about ideas and issues that you have in your workplace. Members are encouraged to enter one of our draws and your business could be profiled in the next Chamber Chatter.
We ask that you help us and the restaurant by providing your RSVP by Monday; call 392-5025 to reserve your seat; $15 for members and $20 for guests.
