Just to remind Mr. Finley (Two per cent not strong mandate PNR letters May 11). Ms. May, just like Mr. Lunn in the past, did not receive a majority of support from the constituents.
As for his assertion that the Conservatives were not given a strong mandate with 60 per cent of the people voting against them, perhaps he should realize that approximately 70 per cent voted against the NDP; 80 per cent against the Liberals and 96 per cent against the Greens.
For the first time since 1917, Canada has elected a majority government without Quebec’s help. If Quebec was taken out of the equation, 48 per cent of Canada voted Conservative and the remainder was split between two major parties and a host of fringe organizations.
When people say there is a crying need for electoral reform, it normally means that the party or cause they support has lost (again) and they want to change the rules so they can override others.
