Cherries

It's so lovely that Coral Beach hosted an information meeting to sell residents on their plan, of which residents will have no say anyway.

It’s so lovely that Coral Beach hosted an information meeting to sell residents on their plan, of which residents will have no say anyway.

The plan is to grow cherries, with the use of noisy helicopters to dry the trees, and pesticides galore. The result, cherries that are almost exclusively sold overseas at prices that locals cannot afford.

We have a cherry orchard near our neighbourhood and while it used to be a quiet operation, it is now very disruptive.

I am generally supportive of those that grow our food, but cherry farming is all pain and no gain for locals.
