Citing stats, Fletcher fails to show his numbers

Re: Libs facing long road to unity (B.C. Views, March 2)

Tom Fletcher’s comments state: “NDP continues its …, mainly fanciful debate … while trumpeting distorted statistics about the plight of B.C. children.” Surprisingly, he supplies no statistics, distorted or not, to support his statement.

Many and recent reports and comments from B.C.’s official “defender” of children and families needing government assistance list statistics indicating that B.C. has the highest level of childhood poverty in Canada.

Does Mr. Fletcher know of these stats, disagree with them, or simply choose to ignore them?

Surely, one of his experience and unchallenged access to express his opinion should feel obliged to support his statements.
