As a BC Hydro customer, I am absolutely appalled that BC Hydro is installing wireless “smart meters” in B.C. starting this summer.
Serious problems with wireless smart meters including increased domestic fire and theft, higher monthly bills and privacy issues, are being brought to light in locations where they are installed in the United States and Canada.
Most frightening, however, are the serious health risks resulting from the “smart” meter’s constant wireless emissions our bodies will be subjected to, night and day. BC Hydro is not providing an opt-out option, and therefore violating our freedom to avoid this harmful exposure.
The health dangers associated with wireless technology are well-documented around the world, and were confirmed by the World Health Organization on May 31 as a possible carcinogen.
While we have little control over the environment outside our homes and what others do with this technology, we should have control over our personal space and our homes. BC Hydro has no right to impose such a harmful technology upon my home and family, against my wishes. Let BC Hydro 1-800-224-9376, your MLA and Premier Christy Clark know that wireless smart meters are an unacceptable risk to the health of British Columbians.
