City of Duncan wasting taxpayer money
Open letter to Duncan city council:
Once again we see the disconnect between elected officials and the folks who pay the bills. The taxpayers. The City of Duncan has hired or is going to hire someone from Oregon, to do what? Come up with an idea for the small patch of green space in downtown Duncan.
The city already caused the business owner to shut down and lose money and now they want to waste more money doing something completely unnecessary. Leave that little patch of green space with its lawn and benches and enjoy it just the way it is.
What is it that infects our current elected officials that makes them think they have to come with new ideas to spend the hard earned dollars the taxpayers put under their control? The primary responsibility of our municipal governments is to ensure the community has decent sidewalks and roads along with maintaining water, sewer and existing parks. That would also include street lights, garbage pickup and a number of smaller infrastructure items.
Not to continually try to find other ways to waste the tax dollars they collect.
I wonder if they realize that all of our daily costs of living are rising far faster than the working person’s income and exceeding the fixed income of seniors. As a 43-year resident of Lake Cowichan now residing in Duncan and watching the Municipality of North Cowichan I see the infection has hit them all, and that doesn’t even get into talking about the City of Victoria.
When we look around the world and see the serious problems the world is facing, a complete change of direction is needed. Another letter will bring to your attention the tens of millions of dollars the federal government has wasted under Justin Trudeau. Time for some serious changes to the overall governance of this country.
