Why are there so many people at our beautiful Parksville Beach with no respect for the law?
Where is the bylaw officer who should be patrolling the beach constantly until the laws are followed?
Not a day goes by without seeing dogs running loose on the beach, defecating wherever with no owner in sight to pick up after them. Not a day goes by without seeing two or three able-bodied young people with no handicap tag parking in handicap spots or in the marked space between handicapped spots.
Not a walk happens without inhaling the disgusting aroma of cigarette smoke or pot and the walkway is littered with cigarette butts, not to mention dog feces in and out of litter bags along the walkway and the boulevard.
What is wrong with people? Just last week I witnessed a woman hurl ugly and vindictive comments at a pet owner walking her leashed dog because she challenged the woman for letting her dog run loose.
It is past time for the posted bylaws at the beach to be enforced on a daily basis. These selfish, inconsiderate people who think they are above the law need to be put in their place. Big fines would be good. Really big fines. Please clean up our beautiful beach so everyone can enjoy it again.
