Regardless of one’s view of the outcome of the March 11 public hearing regarding the Clive development, there are some very positive takeaways.
This was a respectful and occasionally inspirational community meeting – a new era in Oak Bay community dialogue.
The inclusive attitudes, youthful perspectives, forward thinking ideals and appreciation of environmental values expressed that evening embraced a spirit of collaboration, generosity and thoughtful change.
This is a repudiation of the abrasiveness of the self-appointed Oak Bay Watch leadership who offered up only caustic attitude, misleading hype and personal attacks.
I hope the progressive and inclusive tone of the new age Oak Bay community continues to flourish in other organizations and public discourse.
