To the Editor,
Re: City seeks court order ahead of Colliery protest, June 6.
The citizens of Nanaimo have clearly stated the lakes at Colliery Dam Park are extremely important – even worth risking bylaw enforcement – to protect.
A great deal of this emotional turmoil could be avoided if the city were to draft a legally binding contract promising the lakes will be refilled by a certain date.
And to quiet the conspiracy theorists, a promise should be made not to develop the surrounding trails and forest and redesignate the area a park.
