Comment on survey hits a chord

I do not like political parties using public money to spread propaganda (most of them seem to do it all the time!).

I wish to thank Matthew Fox for putting his finger on my pulse regarding mailouts by our local MP. (Conservative survey unwanted, Chilliwack Progress, May 28.) I was vaguely annoyed when I read the pamphlet last week, and dismissed it as one-sided propaganda when I threw it into the recycling.

Mr. Fox reminded me of a few important things.   I do not like political parties using public money to spread propaganda (most of them seem to do it all the time!).

Nowadays one has to pick and choose carefully among candidates for office in search of one that respects the intelligence of the average voter.  Once elected most of them insult voters by sending us junk mail like the one I threw out, that Mr. Fox describes.  Another way politicians show disrespect is totally relying on virtual media tools to get elected, avoiding contact with voters.  If I recall correctly, Mr. Strahl rode on his father’s coat-tails and was elected to this riding having shown up for only one of four all-candidates’ meetings.   I am still waiting for Mr. Strahl to accomplish something important for our area as MP for Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon.  He has three more years to demonstrate more respect and earn my future vote.

Way to go Matthew Fox!  I love to read letters to the editor as some are written by thinking people.
