Conservative ‘deficit-slashing’ shameful

Dear editor,
Harper and Duncan have deficit-slashing plans to go after the income of our troops.

Dear editor,

Harper and Duncan have deficit-slashing plans to go after the income of our troops.

They are tampering with the Post Living Differential Allowance.  This allowance helps our military personnel survive financially in high cost of living communities.

Harper and Duncan want “to restrain (military) costs by $500-million this year” and a $billion per year after that. “Chump change” is what retired general Lewis Mackenzie calls it.  And he’s right.

Harper and Duncan want to spend up to $125 million for each of 65 fighter jets, but don’t want to support the personnel who will fly and maintain these planes?

It is always a good photo-op for Harper to pose with our troops in Afghanistan, so why not support them and their families back home?

This deficit slashing is shameful.
