Re: Councillor loses battle with cancer (News, July 3)
I was disappointed in the news article reporting the death of Coun. Brenda Parkinson. It was extremely brief for a sitting councillor.
Despite our disagreement over almost all voting issues, Coun. Parkinson was always very gracious to me and to everyone else.
With her friendly disposition and easy laughter, she made every room she was in brighter by her presence. As youthful in appearance as she was in spirit, Brenda Parkinson truly sparkled!
Thankfully, she left her mark around us in so many ways. I know I will think of her bubbling laughter when I pass by the hydro boxes around town, as one small example.
I hope your paper will do her justice. Coun. Brenda Parkinson, perhaps more than any other elected politician in Sooke, deserves her place in the archived history of our community as she earned her place in all of our hearts.
