Dear Terrace:
I would like to find some way to express to the community of Terrace and the region how much your love, support, and concern has meant to me while going through this illness.
So many individuals sending in their prayers and good wishes probably had no idea that, collectively, a flood of support was coming into me and my family.
I have been so moved by the prayers, support, gifts, and love that flooded in. From the parish, the farmer’s market, the art’s community, city council and neighbouring city councils, from my workplace at Seven Sisters and from many, many others. I don’t think there can be a more caring community in the world. (To use Northern Health’s motto, maybe it’s the “northern way of caring.”)
I am also very thankful for Dr. Kenyon and his team who were onto the diagnosis, even though it is a very rare blood disorder that could have been missed. I have such admiration for the staff and St. Paul’s ICU. They are amazing people and gave me good care.
Coming home to Mills Memorial Hospital was wonderful, though. I know all hospitals struggle to keep things clean and keep ahead of all those nasty hospital germs and we have an old hospital, but it looked so bright and clean, and it was wonderful to see all the families and welcoming faces. Great to see so many young nurses that I have known as kids doing such a great job, with that fresh young passion in their profession. All the staff, from housekeeping to lab techs, the whole team, do a wonderful job. Thanks so much for looking after me so well.
I am very blessed to have such a wonderful family. My son and daughter, Mom and Dad, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, they all just pulled in around me and they appreciate the support from the community as well. I have a bit of a struggle ahead of me, but your support has already helped to strengthen me.
Lynne Christiansen, Terrace, B.C.
