Dear editor,
Where are they?
You know, the self-proclaimed champions of the needy and vulnerable. The voice of the downtrodden little guy.
Coun. Leonard is the chair of the Comox Valley Housing Task Force. Coun. Winchester, when in a previous role as the City’s mayor, initiated the Mayor’s Taskforce on Homelessness.
And what about Couns. Ambler, Anglin, Theos and Hillian? Their silence concerning Maple Pool is deafening.
You see, they are hiding behind the hollow in- camera argument. Only Mayor Jangula has remained true to his principles and has openly stated his position to help find a solution to the Maple Pool problem and keep more than 50 vulnerable people from becoming homeless and off the streets.
Because the City’s actions to once again attack the Lins and Maple Pool community require a majority vote on council, we can only assume that those mentioned above are responsible for those misguided and uncaring actions.
Council, we are waiting for you to step forward and declare your position on this issue.
It’s time you are responsible for your actions to those that trusted you with their votes and those that you presumably should be representing, the taxpayers and residents of the City of Courtenay.
Butch Montreuil,
Courtenay
