Crowd behaved respectfully

Dear editor,

Dear editor,

We feel strongly that we must stand up and defend ourselves against false accusations that have been made about ourselves and members of our community regarding the public being barred from Union Bay Improvement District board meetings.

We attended the Dec. 15 board meeting because we have genuine concerns about some of the decisions being made by our current board.

There were 50+ other residents there who we believe were there for the same reasons as we were. We were all merely exercising our rights as taxpayers of Union Bay.

We were accused of having a “mob mentality” by the chair of the board! How can he say that when he wasn’t even at the meeting?

We can tell you absolutely that everyone behaved respectfully and there was no violence or name-calling, which would typically be the actions of a “mob.”

The chair has also publicly accused two trustees of divulging confidential information to certain members of the community, which is nothing but heresay, as he has yet to come forward with any proof.

The chair seems to operate solely from second-hand information, which erodes his credibility considerably. We are calling for him to stand up and publicly apologize to the community.

Bill and Anne Alcock,

Union Bay
