Dialed into community

It’s been a wonderful two weeks. Broadcasting from the museum from 10 a.m. to noon was an absolute blast. My guests and I talked about music and history and squeezed in a few funny stories. This defined what I love about radio: communicating to the listeners in a way like we’re all sitting around the kitchen table having a chat.

My thanks to my musical guests Steve Jones, Gail Riddall, Ted and Katie Shumaker, Justin Glibbery, Nikita Afonso, Gord McLaren and Jack Godwin. Talented, original singers and songwriters abound here.

And to my interviewees: James Miller, Walter Huebert, DBJ Snyder, Fred Trainor, Terry Michels, John Vassilaki, John Millar, Randy Manuel and Ernie Blumke. The topics were varied, interesting and, above all, fun.

The Penticton Museum under the direction of Peter Ord is all about local history and culture. Through the medium of Penticton Community Radio I hope we achieved this as we saluted the history of broadcasting and communication in Penticton.
