Editor, The Record:
The parents and students of Durieu Elementary School would like to extend a thank you to all those businesses and individuals in Mission and the surrounding area who donated items or services for our March 12 silent auction. Thanks to your support, the evening was a great success, with delicious burgers and a big turn-out at the Dewdney Pub, accompanied by some excellent music played by Willy and the Wannabees.
The money raised will benefit all Durieu students as we plan their year-end field trips and activities, but especially the Grade 6/7 class on its three-day trip to Zajac Ranch in May. They will have the opportunity to experience many more activities than would otherwise be possible.
As most of you know, Durieu will be closing at the end of the school year. Our final activities are extra special this year, as we would like the students to have very positive memories to carry with them as they move out to other schools away from the Durieu community. Our Grade 6/7 camp trip will help teach our students valuable lessons, instill greater self-confidence and create lasting memories that will stay with them for many years to come. Without the generosity of the Mission community, many of these activities would not be possible and we are all very grateful for your involvement and support.
