Douglas Channel Watch pledges support

Douglas Channel Watch would like to express our gratitude to the Haisla Nation...

Dear sir,

Douglas Channel Watch would like to express our gratitude to the Haisla Nation for hosting the Joint Review Panel Hearings regarding Enbridge’s dual pipeline, tank farm, and supertanker port proposal held in Kitamaat, January 10-11.

We can only hope the Panel members truly heard what your chiefs and elders shared, and will remember those words when it comes time for the panel to make its choice.

Douglas Channel Watch would like to offer our assistance to the Haisla in stopping the Northern Gateway project.

We also look forward to assisting the Haisla in their efforts to help the Kitimat River, its estuary, Minette Bay and the head of Douglas Channel recover from the cumulative impacts of 60 years of industrial and intensive clear cut logging impacts.

The triple threat of spills from the proposed pipelines, the tank farm, and 1,100 foot long supertankers with over 300 million litres of diluted bitumen zigzagging their way into Kitimat is bringing together many different first nations, environmental groups, and individuals.

Recent comments from the federal government has only increased our numbers.

Douglas Channel Watch will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Haisla, and others, to ensure that not one piece of Enbridge’s pipeline gets buried anywhere in the Kitimat River watershed.

Murray Minchin.
