Dumping trash by side of road definitely not cool

Sunday, Feb. 3, you drove past with your old Christmas tree strapped to the roof of your car. You were heading in the direction of Comox Lake. Like hundreds of others, you were looking for a place to dump your unwanted refuse.

Sure enough, 15 minutes later you headed back into town, sans Christmas tree. You didn’t go far, the tree was dumped at the corner of Comox Lake and Horbury Road.

You and the many other ill-advised souls who see this road as a dumping ground are sadly mistaken. Those of us who live here take pride in this area and do our bit to pick up the trailings left behind by you and your ilk.

Never mind the potential fire hazard of your trees, garden waste, prunings, televisions, microwaves, furniture and straight-up garbage — what kind of individual, in this day and age, drives along a rural road and throws their crap to the side like it was a normal thing to do?

Please, VW owner, license plate 351 AHV — stop and think about what you did on Sunday afternoon.

Did you think we were all watching the Super Bowl and that you would go unnoticed? Think again.

The fine for dumping is substantial and one of these days — well, I can only hope.

J. Hamilton,

Cumberland
