Duncan park design process flawed
The Station Street park renovation seems an excellent idea. I have no problems with the design changes. I DO have a problem with the process.
Since when does a city council make significant changes to its downtown core without requesting competing designs and cost estimates? Or did they? To simply approve a design from a “visiting architect from Oregon” (who’s a friend of the mayor and visits here every year) seems a bizarre way to run city business. I MUST be missing something! Were there no requests for competing designs and cost estimates from other landscape architects? By-the-way, what ARE the costs for the planned changes?
The Whistler Street proposal is another strange story altogether.
