Billions of tons of various minerals, coal and oil have been extracted from the Earth’s outer crust and either consumed or redistributed. Is it possible that this has disturbed the balance and centrifugal forces of our rotating world, which would affect the gravitation pull on the tides, the force of the winds and our orbit round the sun, and could this be a contributing factor toward global warming?
Every year, the amount of fossil fuels mined is about nine billion tonnes. That sounds a lot but you would need to add eleven more zeros to the end of it to get the weight of about one-seventh of the Earth. So we would need to keep mining for about another thousand billion years to make one per cent difference.
