Enough already

Governance society urged to accept that amalgamation not wanted

A question for Bruce Shepherd, of the Greater Vernon Governance Society, when is enough, enough?

Please explain, why is it felt helpful for your next foray to continue beating the amalgamation dead horse this time around?

MLA Eric Foster has publicly stated the provincial government won’t assist you, and that Coldstream council members acted properly.

What good – or ill – will is being created, by continuously touting that 816 Coldstream voters signed your amalgamation petition?

Why not instead highlight the fact that the other 89 per cent of Coldstream voters, more than 6,500 people, refused to sign?

Given that Vernon city council recently opted to take no action when presented with a (public transit) petition signed by 3,191 people, why do you feel the puny number of 816 to be so significant?

Continuously stirring an amalgamation tempest in the wee public teapot has surely become counterproductive to your goal by now, hasn’t it?

So, instead, why not personally campaign as candidate for a seat on Coldstream council in the upcoming November election?
