The Lakes District Family Enhancement board has dedicated volunteers who make the Lakes District Food Bank a reality. Without these volunteers the food bank would not run.

On a typical distribution day the volunteers prepare over one hundred food boxes for approximately 350 adults and children. As is obvious, the Food Bank has been an essential service for many families and these volunteers are indispensable.

A number of these committed individuals have been working tirelessly to help reduce hunger for families and children in our community over the last decade. With an increased need for food in the community over the last two years, volunteers have stepped up to prepare twice as many food boxes as usual.

It is with a great deal of gratitude, admiration and appreciation that we, the board, acknowledge the volunteers as the backbone of the Food Bank. It is each of you volunteers who do the challenging work that lessens malnutrition and food shortages for families and children which results in a healthier and happier community.

To show the board’s appreciation for these workers there will be a volunteer appreciation luncheon on June 18 at 1:30 p.m., at the Grapevine for food bank volunteers.

If you have volunteered over the last year at the food bank please confirm your attendance with Joanna at 250 692 3029.

Yours sincerely,

Anne Guarasci, President of the Lakes District Family Enhancement Society
