To the Editor,
Re: City partners with port on ferry project, Dec. 10.
It is vile to constantly read in Nanaimo media those who feel entitled to tax money, government subsidies or even extensions for more time and an extended lease on a piece of valuable waterfront city property.
Island Ferries for example, has had five years to get their own financing in place to begin the Nanaimo to Vancouver service. Since they have not, the blame rests solely on them.
Do not blame the city or port authority. Both have bent over backwards and wasted far too much time waiting for this one proposal to float. Since it has not, it is time for others to ship in. And if others have the money, they will accomplish what one group could not.
This is the free enterprise system.
