Garden theft

Even though the garden space is called a community garden, these gardens are not for anyone in the community to go in and help themselves.

Even though the garden space is called a community garden, these gardens are not for anyone in the community to go in and help themselves.

We pay money for the privilege of doing hard work: tilling the soil, adding compost and other organic matter, buying the seeds, sweating as we weed and water, water and weed, and then rejoice as we watch the miracle of the seeds sprouting and growing into tasty vegetables.

It really is disappointing and disgusting to arrive at the garden and see that somebody has stolen produce from the garden. First of all, the thief is trespassing. They don’t have a key to the garden gate, so they must have illegally climbed over the fence.

Only key holders and their guests are to be in the garden area. We respect other’s gardens. We don’t steal their produce and we wish others would do the same.
