To the editor:
The Ministry of Environment’s recent announcement that British Columbia schools and hospitals will be using solar panels to heat water and improve their energy efficiency is very welcome news.
It is even more exciting because the initiative
is a private-public agreement, which goes to
show that government and industry are not enemies and can accomplish a lot if they work together.
This is definitely the kind of initiative that B.C. needs. It will not only ensure each of these schools and hospitals are actually carbon-neutral, a remarkable accomplishment on its own, but will simultaneously encourage the growth of the emerging clean energy sector in B.C.
Here’s to hoping that this project is just the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between clean energy and the people of B.C.
