Harperized sales tax

Re: The Harperized Sales Tax (HST)

Recall proceedings are in full swing in this riding, mainly due to the efforts of Wayne Russell.  I applaud his efforts and dedication because, no matter what side you are on in this issue, his level of involvement is what’s needed to revitalize our democratic system.

The one problem I see with recall is that it should have been extended to include our federal MP, Cathy McLeod, if recall were possible at the federal level.  The HST is really a federal tax, supported by our federal tax dollars, by the Harper Conservatives.  This type of Harper hypocrisy will continue at all cost unless we, the voters, put a stop to it in the next federal election.

When I saw the latest Conservative commercial showing Mr. Harper working diligently at his desk to save Canada, I couldn’t help but note the symbolism in the final clip of the ad.  It shows the eternal flame with Parliament in the background.  To me the eternal flame represents Harper’s eternal dedication to the oil and gas industry and parliament as only an inconvenient formality in his plan.  So, when you are filling up your car at $1.20 plus per liter remember whose side Mr. Harper is on and show your appreciation to Cathy McLeod in the next federal election.
