While I agree with the recent letter by Marina Smidesang, I am mostly baffled when it comes to solutions. One thing that might help a little bit would be about a dozen porta-potties strategically placed near the downtown core and in all parks and hire a person to see they are maintained in a usable condition. This should put to rest any complaints about defecating in public areas.
I think all bylaws should either be enforced or removed from the books. While the city seems to have a handle on numbers, I think the next step is to identify who would be able to fend for themselves with a little help, and who can’t fend for themselves and needs around the clock care.
