Hope finds unity within its diversity

I believe it is accurate to say, “There is only one church in Hope.”

My wife and I attended the annual “Walk to the Cross” event on Good Friday held in our town’s beautiful park adjoining Wallace Street.

We participated with sisters and brothers of the Christian faith from Hope’s Anglican, Pentecostal, Baptist, Harvest, Roman Catholic and United congregations. Others also joined in the walk marking the fourteen incidents when Jesus carried his own wooden cross to his site of the crucifixion.

We came away from this event with that awesome sense of having been intimately involved with members of a large family where everyone adhered to one central theme : walking in the Presence of a living, loving Lord.

In specific details, members of this family follow a variety of forms and tones in expressing their faith in their home congregations. But when we walk and worship together on Good Friday, Advent and other festivals through the church year, we are one. When you experience unity in diversity, you’re close to a central truth.

Thank you Hope’s ministerial leaders for highlighting our one central church.
