To me, September always seems like the beginning of a new year. Summer is drawing to an end, and fall is the start of a new season. Meanwhile, the auxiliary has been quietly carrying on with our programs within our hospital.
Our scheduling is flexible to permit members to take holidays or spend time with families. This is something we always stress to any new members who join our organization. At this time I would like anyone with a few hours to spare to considering joining the auxiliary. It is a very rewarding endeavour to take on.
In September, we start to launch our fall activities. Our buyer will be heading to the gift show to select new stock for our shop at G.R. Baker Hospital. It is with anticipation that we await to see Barb’s newest buys. Four of us will be attending the North East Area Conference of Hospital Auxiliaries. It is a great time to network, gather new ideas, touch base with old friends and meet new ones. This is the time of year we start to look at what hospital equipment is needed. To this end, we will be considering new and old ways to fundraise. I would like to ask at this time that you consider us when making memorial donations, as this helps us achieve our goals.
Two of our recent purchases, the incubator for the lab and the rapid infuser for the emergency room, are up and running. These are the times we feel very proud, as we see the various hospital departments benefit from our hours of volunteering. At this time I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge and thank our many community supporters who also help us to achieve our goals.
We were pleased to present Caitlin McDonald with our annual bursary of $500. This hardworking young woman is pursuing a career in the medical field with a goal of becoming a pathologist. We wish you success in your studies, Caitlin.
