Hug a caregiver for caregiver week

Ahead is B.C. Caregiver Week, May 3-9, and so many of you out there are caring for loved ones.

Ahead is B.C. Caregiver Week, May 3-9, and so many of you out there are caring for loved ones.

Perhaps you have a family member or friend that needs a helping hand, and you are always there. We appreciate you.

Maybe your loved one has Alzheimers and you get so tired, and don’t know where to turn. Know there are supports here, and respite for you.

Some of you are taking care of your loved ones with palliative care in your homes or driving to Nanaimo General Hospital. It is exhausting physically and emotionally.

Be good to yourself, don’t burn out, call for support in our community. Island Health is working hard to bring us palliative beds locally.

Perhaps you have friends, weakened with MS and so many of the autoimmune diseases, that  need a helping hand. The kindest thing we can do is be there for them and/or provide a telephone call or note.

So take an extra minute, and hug a caregiver. It will mean so very much to them, and lighten their day.
