I must apologize
The apology is for taking so long to publicly express my sincere thanks to a young couple dining at the same restaurant in Duncan.
About noon on the Friday before Valentine’s Day I realized that I didn’t have a card or gift for my wife who is in care. Neither did I have anything for our 63rd wedding anniversary the following Wednesday. With snow forecast for the next few days and the realization that I would be in the doghouse if I failed to acknowledge the occasions, I started my urgent search of the Duncan stores.
Later with my purchasing finished and the cards, cake, chocolates, and flowers to cover both occasions stowed in the vehicle I did, after all, find myself in the Dog House Restaurant about 5 p.m. Ushered to a table I was asked from my left what I would like to drink. I ordered as I sat down and was immediately asked by another server on the right what I would like to drink. I replied that I had already ordered, and was then politely instructed on mask etiquette, travel around the restaurant and the route to take on the way out. I thanked the young lady for her help.
A couple across the isle were smiling at all the action; I smiled back and shook my head remarking that “Anyone would think we were married with all the instructions”. The service and food were very good as usual and the following intermittent cross-isle conversation enjoyable. A relaxing meal after a stressful afternoon was topped as I collect a take-out piece of pie for my wife and asked for the bill only to be told it had already been paid by the young couple across the isle. We exchanged names as I expressed heartfelt thanks to Kevin and Tracy (the names I forgot causing the delay) for their gift to a tired stranger. We will not remain strangers, as I plan to visit at Nixon Creek Campground this summer to continue our new friendship. The longer I live the shorter my memory, but your kind gesture will never be forgotten.
Again, thank you,
Trevor Morris
