Earlier this summer, Trail and District Chamber of Commerce encouraged the development of a farmers’ market on the Esplanade where local growers could market their produce to consumers hungry for locally grown (sometimes organically) fruits and vegetables.
This was a good idea welcomed by many.
Then, last week, the big foot of commerce appeared there in the form of a huge semi loaded with “imported” produce, crushing to near-non-existence the local producers.
Did the chamber make a mistake in allowing this intrusion or should the chamber be renamed “Trail and District Chamber of BIG Business?” Here comes “Monsantoism” and Agribiz.
