Just more lies and deception on the HST

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ...

Here we go again — more deceptive information from the pro-HST groups including government.  Recent ads on radio and TV are structured to make us believe the HST rate is going down to 10 per cent immediately but in actual fact it’s not until 2014. Deception!

The HST advocates are also trying  to convince us that we are going to be better off by $123 per year.

How can this be possible when we are paying more tax on numerous items previously exempt, such as non-prescription medicines, medical items, prepared foods, restaurants, theatres, stamps, bicycles, newspapers, gyms, home repairs, Canadian flights, subscriptions, memberships, telephone, haircuts, laundry, parking, activities and much more?

Even a lower HST rate still means you are paying more than you were before HST was implemented. Deception!!!

The only ones benefiting from the HST are large companies.

The PRO HST groups say that lower taxes will create jobs. From the companies’ standpoint, reduced taxes mean increased profits and if they hire additional employees it will be because of increased demand for their products and not because of tax breaks. Deception!

Vote yes to return to the GST and PST.
