To the Editor,
I am so tired of hearing all of the negativity from people who have experienced poor treatment at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
I have recently spent a lot of time at the hospital, both as a patient and as a family member of an ill grandfather. I have watched as the medical staff worked their tails off trying to give excellent patient care all while trying to learn a new cumbersome computer system. In my area of work I have had to learn new computer applications/systems, however the difference was I was able to sit at my desk with few interruptions and in the worst case scenario, risk losing a file, not a patient’s life. These nurses, care aides, doctors have to learn their new system in the busy hallways of a hospital wing, ER or recovery room.
Not once did I encounter a disgruntled VIHA employee. They were all very professional, friendly and provided both myself and my grandfather with the best care possible and I wanted people to know that they are doing their best with what they have been dealt so please cut them some slack.
