Lantzville food issue an embarrassment

Re: Urban agriculture a complex matter, Letters, June 28.

To the Editor,

Re: Urban agriculture a complex matter, Letters, June 28.

I am sad and disillusioned. I have been trying to understand why most members of the District of Lantzville council want to stop the growing and selling of local food.

Having people willing to grow food for us here on our Island is much needed. Dirk Becker and Nicole Shaw should be given support and shown appreciation.

All over North America, people are being encouraged in this endeavour. Communities are changing bylaws to support the growing of food in urban areas, not stop it.

I do not understand our council. All that has been going on around this issue here in Lantzville is almost surreal to me.

Up until now I have been pleased to say I live in the small community of Lantzville. Now, I am just embarrassed.
