I watched the parade in White Rock Saturday evening.
I saw the mayor of White Rock sitting in a restaurant with his wife and friends. I stopped to say hello and then realized he was not in the parade. When I asked him why he wasn’t, his response was that the organizers didn’t want any political representatives involved.
I couldn’t believe it. In my opinion, and I think many would agree, the mayor of a city or town should always be in the parade.
Naturally, they should never have any material displayed that refers to a particular political leaning, but they should always be at the front since they are the leader of the community. The police should be in front of the parade but well ahead.
The mayor is the leader of the community, not the police.
