LETTER: Abbotsford refusing to contribute to costs of maintaining WCE station

Councillors should try the transit system instead of regularly attending council meetings with their vehicles.

Because TransLink has gone to Compass cards and Central Valley bus drivers can’t read them, some councillors feel the system is “ripe for abuse.”

While I don’t disagree that someone could cheat, I feel it is highly unlikely because:

There are only four buses in the morning and four buses in the evening that would be affected. How many “cheats” would want to go to Mission between 6 a.m. and 7:15 a.m.?

WCE riders have Compass cards and they have to be valid to ride the WCE, so I’m trying to figure out how often someone having a Compass card could be abusing the system

Perhaps the councillors should try the transit system instead of regularly attending council meetings with their vehicles.

Is this another issue that goes with the City of Abbotsford refusing to contribute to the costs associated with the City of Mission’s contributions to maintain the WCE station?
