LETTER: Against Zincton proposal

From reader Christine Ott

I oppose the Zincton Resort plans.

We really don’t want or need any more ski hills or echo villages. We could do so much better than a self-serving resort in the middle of the wilderness.

If the developer needs to put money somewhere, they could invest in affordable housing in all of the surrounding communities.

The wilderness area they wish to exploit is home to grizzly bears, black bears, moose, mountain goats, mule deer, golden eagles, wolverines, and mountain caribou, and in the wetlands beaver, salamanders, frogs and other aquatic life, as well as old growth forest that birds, squirrels, bees, pollinators, insects etc. use as their home.

What we do need are more parks and conservatory land trusts. Leave the wild for the future!
