Letter: Bucolic riparian areas anything but pristine

Mill Creek is lined on both sides with trees, weeds, shrubs and excrement.

Open letter to city council and staff:

As a citizen of Kelowna I feel compelled to write this letter.

I’m sure you mean well when you make most of your decisions. But you may not be aware of some of the results.

I live near Mill Creek, near the corner of Pandosy Street and Sutherland Avenue. The creek is lined on both sides with trees, weeds, shrubs and excrement.

Not from fish, ducks, or whatever creatures live in or near the creek. But from humans who seem to find a lifestyle of hiding and living in these bushes 24 hours a day.

I’m sure this happens in many areas of Kelowna.

Perhaps some judicious clean-up of these riparian areas would discourage the abuse of this lovely meandering water-way.

This is not a new problem. However, I believe you need to look into this issue sooner, rather than later.

M.F. Wort,

Kelowna
