To the Editor,
Are you a Save-on More shopper? Here’s some information you may find useful.
Recently, the company radically changed the opportunities for redeeming points.
In the past, customers could save points from grocery shopping and redeem those points on needed items from the catalogue, online, ordering at leisure and picking up the item at the store. Easy.
I had 90,000 points and sometime early in January went online to look through the catalogue for something I might need, only to find that the catalogue now offers only Canuck tickets, travel rewards and gift cards for retailers that are not available in Golden.
No more wide variety of household and recreational items. It certainly would have been helpful to learn about this change in advance.
After emailing customer service, I was contacted by someone from the More Rewards department who was super helpful and willing.
To make a long story short, we determined that the best option for me was to redeem the points for Save-on more gift cards available in store, that I could then use to pay for groceries.
The 90,000 points became $150 in store gift cards.
It took several attempts to work this out with the local store, and I will spare you the boring details of the several frustrating attempts made before the issue was resolved.
Thanks to the very helpful local customer service representative, Wanda, I redeemed my points.
However, I was told over and over by the store manager that no one else seems to have the “problem” I have.
Now, the store is aware and you, the shopper, should be able, if you want, to redeem your points towards Save-on gift cards and use them to purchase groceries, or here’s a thought, donate them to the food bank or the Golden Women’s centre. The only catch is that I have been told by the head office that this may be a temporary offer, good only to the end of March.
I hope this letter has been helpful. If you run into any glitches, just ask for the store manager. Hopefully, he will be helpful. Good luck.
