On June 23, I had the pleasure of attending a duo cello recital at the Silverton Memorial Hall.
Not only were the cellists accomplished professionals being alumni of the University of Alberta music faculty, they proved to be “an inspiration to mind travel the cello brick road.”
The beautiful and melodic melodies seemed to cause my mind to drift from my boyhood memories of living across the street some 50 years ago. The superbly enchanting cello duo invoked so many memories of leaving and those left behind, of forged and dissolved friendships, and the uncertainty of what was to come.
At one point I found myself so emotionally touched I stepped outside to catch some air and ground myself. The evening was framed by a golden finger of the evening departing sun touching Idaho Lookout with abandon recklessness.
The aftermath of the earlier rain drenching storm surge was just a distant memory. I was about re-enter that world of times gone by facilitated by the beauty and majesty of the cello brick road.
