Dear Editor:
An immaculate steam train, scenic length of track and a deep canyon with a trestle is a dream attraction, and we are so lucky to have it just outside Summerland.
Summerland Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality need to be supporting and exploiting the KVR at every opportunity! Don’t raise their taxes, help pay them!
The train is a major attraction and brings in 30,000 visitors a year. It could bring in even more.
These cultural tourists are very desirable and should all have a compelling reason to stop in town.
What about a train car or replica greeting people as they enter town or even right on Main Street? Can’t afford that?
Well, how about an artistic train style tent to house the tourist info kiosk that is on the corner this year? Or a photo board?
There are so many other inexpensive things that could be done if anyone took a minute to think about it.
If we were to think bigger, then a train theme in the downtown would be really cool and a real reason for people to stop and enjoy our shops.
It’s way past time for the chamber and council to get on board.
