To the editor:
Congratulations on maintaining a high volume of diverse and stimulating topics in Letters to the Editor. This remains the traditional non-digital voice of the people.
Special gratitude to writers such as Joseph Hayes, (Monsanto Concerns, Feb. 4, 2019), for exposing the clandestine power-lobby of food producers reliant upon a toxic soup of Roundup, (“aka Agent Orange”), to maximize production.
It is one thing for government and the FDA to not openly fight or disclose the abhorrent poisoning of our water table with toxic chemical buildup; it is quite another to deny freedom of choice with proper disclosure of contents in food packaging to consumers.
Meat eaters have a right to know which trade products now contain bovine injections.
Those advocating a plant-based diet should be concerned about quality. Can an educated choice be made without full disclosure of GMOs, pesticide exposure, or products raised in fields of Agent Orange? What powerful forces are keeping us in the dark in this regard?
Truly, we are what we eat. One doesn’t have to connect too many dots to see the long-term health costs and consequences resulting from folly in dietary choices.
For previous generations, concerns about asbestos, radiation, pollution and even sex were “needless worry.” Ignorance was considered bliss. Are we to perpetuate this heads in the sand dumbness?
Why are our politicians failing us in this essential matter? Perhaps we should yell louder…more letters to the editor!
How about some serious investigative journalism on this topic?
