Dear editor,
The Town of Comox is cutting garbage pickup to every two weeks – no doubt cutting jobs in this essential service, to save $156,000.
The hard-working people providing this service and those providing other essential services have been required to work during the COVID-19 crisis, unlike many in civic offices and government services who stayed home and got paid.
Imagine if everyone stayed home and got paid. Garbage would pile up. Some would lose water, electricity and gas. There would be no groceries, no home care. No 911 services.
So this is the way that Comox council rewards those who provided essential services during a crisis?
Unbelievable.
Phil Harrison,
Comox
