LETTER: Couple touched by anonymous free dinner

'We were totally overwhelmed by such unbelievable kindness'

My wife and I are an elderly couple who chose to go for a leisurely back-road drive through the Fraser Valley on the afternoon of Sunday, July 12.

We decided to find a nice restaurant in Chilliwack for dinner as an anniversary celebration. We chose Earl’s and were delighted by the service and delicious food. We kept to ourselves and did not divulge the fact that we were celebrating a special event. When it came time to pay our bill, we were informed by our waitress that it had already been paid by the couple who had just departed the booth next to ours.

We were totally overwhelmed by such unbelievable kindness and hope that if they read this letter, a couple of old folks will be able to thank them from the bottom of their hearts.
