Dear editor,
I am writing to tell you about my attraction to and support of the Courtenay Airpark and surrounding businesses.
Every summer since 2010, I have spent several weeks in the Comox Valley; camping, fishing, buying fuel, shopping, eating at restaurants, and, in general, enjoying the great city you have and its proximity to many floatplane destinations in B.C. I like it so much, that in 2014 I joined the Courtenay Airpark Association and pay dues each year.
The only reason I visit is the Airpark, its proximity to town and the great people that hang out there. While my happiness and enjoyment may not be a primary reason to keep the Airpark open, I imagine my US$2,500 I spend here each summer may be of interest to your local government.
This year, two of my U.S. floatplane-flying friends also visited the Airpark in response to my invitation. Anywhere I go in B.C., people know about the Courtenay Airpark. I assert it is a part of the unique identity of the city.
The Courtenay Airpark is a gem. I hope the city won’t “pave paradise and put up a parking lot” or road or condos or…?
